UNITE HERE! Local 100 Stands Up to #DefendDACA

Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions’ imminent decision to phase out DACA will only further defile the American Presidency, already marred by overt sympathies for white supremacists like Joe Arpaio.

On Tuesday, September 5th, New Yorkers will take to the streets to remind this President that we will protect immigrant New York and that we are HERE TO STAY!

We will gather at Foley Square at 5:30 p.m. and then march to the Brooklyn Bridge.

Shop Steward Training #1

UNITE HERE Local 100 held it’s First Leadership Organizing Training in New York and New Jersey on August 19th. At the last trainings members learned about “Right to Work” laws, strategized a plan to invite coworkers to join the Union and discussed their hopes and dreams for their jobs and family lives. On the 19th, members learned about the potential impact of repealing TPS (Temporary Protected Status) and DACA Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals);  they practiced what to do in case of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) raids at a workplace and continued to strategize and practice inviting fellow workers to join the movement.
