About UNITE HERE Local 100

We are the Union for food service and restaurant workers in the New York/New Jersey area. We represent workers in cafeterias, executive dining rooms, restaurants, bars, delis, airports, sports and exhibition halls and performing arts centers throughout New York City, Westchester, Long Island and New Jersey.

Who we are

If you’ve been to Yankee or Citifield, you’ve probably met our members. Madison Square Garden? That too. The 21 Club? Gallaghers? Giants Stadium? Our members make these the kind of places that people visit again and again.

Local 100 members do the work that fuels one of New York’s major industries—hospitality and food service.

We represent over 17,000 service workers in cafeterias, restaurants, bars, delis, airports, and sports and exhibition arenas throughout New York City, Long Island and Northern New Jersey. We also represent workers in country clubs and hotels in Westchester.

Through our affiliation with UNITE HERE!, Local 100 draws on the support of more than 250,000 active members in the United States and Canada. Our members come from numerous different countries and speak more than 20 languages. We bring experience and strength from all over the world.

How our Union works

Our union works on one basic principle–standing together. Each one of us is essential to creating an organization strong enough to demand and win fair treatment on the job.

What we do as workers standing together can have a powerful effect on our lives, our families’ lives, and the lives of working people. Whether we work with our co-workers, join with others who work for the same company in another location, the entire membership, or with other unions, we accomplish things that we could not do alone.

Our collective strength enables us to get better wages and benefits, fair treatment and safer working conditions on the job, and a secure future for our families.

UNITE HERE International Union

Our International Union, UNITE HERE, was formed in August 2004 by the merger of UNITE (the Union of Needletrades, Textiles and Industrial Employees) and HERE (the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union).

UNITE HERE represents more than 250,000 workers throughout the U.S. and Canada who work in the hospitality, gaming, food service, manufacturing, textile, laundry, and airport industries.
