Notice of Cancellation of Election
The election of officers for UNITEHERE Local 100 scheduled for May 22 has been cancelled
After the nominations for officers was held on Tuesday, April 24, the Local 100 election committee met on April 25 and again on April 30 to review the eligibility of all candidates, as required by the UNITEHERE Constitution, Article 10, section 4. The election committee found that a sufficient number of candidates were eligible for each of the officer positions, and no additional candidates were running. Therefore the following members were declared elected.

General Membership Meeting and Nominations for UNITE HERE, Local 100 Officers!!

General Membership Meetings are always a time to connect with fellow members, officers and staff, find out what is happening around your Union, and vote on Union decisions, but but the opportunity to nominate Union leadership - President, Secretary Treasurer, 16 Executive Board members and 3 Trustees - only comes once every three years.
According to our bylaws, to run for office, a member must be in 'continuous good standing for a period of three months immediately prior to the month of the election.' This means that members who wish to run for office must be up to date with their dues by the end of February, 2012. To be eligible to vote, a member must be in good standing as of the date of the election. Union members who have their dues deducted weekly and do not have a regular work schedule (such as Madison Square Garden, or the Javits Center) and workers from 'fee payer shops' like Yankee Stadium, CitiField, Met Life Stadium, and Prudential Arena should check their dues status with our Dues Department.

Rally for Sky Chef Workers!

Nationally, nearly 7000 workers at Sky Chef kitchens have been without a contract for a year and a half, including hundreds of our fellow Union brothers and sisters in the New York-area airports.
On July 14th, Local 100 joined other UNITE HERE members, Sky Chef workers, and Summer Organizers from around the country in a march and rally to tell the company to negotiate in good faith and settle a fair contract!

In the spirit of the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., who gave his life in April of 1968 while supporting the right to organize public sanitation workers in Memphis, Local 100 members met at the office Saturday morning and marched to Times Square to rally with the rest of New York's labor movement in solidarity with Union workers throughout the country.
